Sometimes people tend to forget to read the food labels on cat food but every cat owner should do this to ensure their cat is getting the nutrients they need . Just like humans ,cats should have a healthy balanced diet containing all the nutrients there body needs to be strong and healthy. The main nutrients a cat requires for a healthy diet are protein and fat. They also need lots of carbohydrates, vitamins , minerals and water .  Some vets are now recommending we feed our cats canned food instead of dried as dried food doesnt contain a sufficient amount of water. and is also heavily processed. During processing dried food gets heated for long periods of time and  nutrients are lost in the process. Why cats hunt  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_and_Jerry When   I think of cats and mice I think of Tom and jerry Cats are born with a hunting instinct.Cats were domesticated over 10000 years ago but their hunting instint stays with them . Some people believe that the reason cats bring home rats,birds and other dead creatures they have hunted is to help us humans out as they think we are useless hunters others think they bring them home as gifts. Also cats hunt for fun, its like a game . Hunting does have a lot of risks for a cat  Hunting cats can contract diseases from infected animals eg. lungworm ,salmonella ,Tularemia.
