Some people believe that the reason cats bring home rats,birds and other dead creatures they have hunted is to help us humans out as they think we are useless hunters others think they bring them home as gifts. Also cats hunt for fun, its like a game . Hunting does have a lot of risks for a cat  Hunting cats can contract diseases from infected animals eg. lungworm ,salmonella ,Tularemia. If a cat swallows a mouse which has been baited it can be lethal.  Cats can develop parasites from their prey . eg. ticks
