Why do cats survive falls from great heights ?

Cats are known to have adapted to falling from heights . It is hard for scientists to investigate this theory as they cannot just simply throw cats from great heights to investigate this theory.
According to this article,
"Cats’ remarkable ability to survive falls from great heights is a simple and predictable matter of physics, evolutionary biology, and physiology".https://sciencebasedlife.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/how-do-cats-survive-falls-from-great-heights/

In a 1987 study of 132 cats brought to a New York City emergency veterinary clinic after falls from high-rise buildings, 90% of treated cats survived and only 37% needed emergency treatment to keep them alive. One that fell 32 stories onto concrete suffered only a chipped tooth and a collapsed lung and was released after 48 hours.https://sciencebasedlife.wordpress.com/2012/04/13/how-do-cats-survive-falls-from-great-heights/

Reports like this show that cats must know how to fall without damaging themselves.
These are the studies;
1. Cats have a large surface area in comparison to their weight so their terminal velocity is low, this means that when a cat hits the ground there is less force than there would be with many other animals.
2. Cats have good long legs and strong muscles which soak up the impact.
3. Finally cats also have a great sense of where to place their feet when they fall from huge heights. Cats are known to be able to spin themselves around mid-air so they land with their four paws on the ground. The video below shows this
